St. Patrick's Day......

Yep, time again for the mega St. Patrick's Day Parade thru' Killarney town. This normally involves rain, freezing wind and shivering children in dancing costumes, football kits etc. This year was different, it didn't rain......

The Cullen Pipe and Drum Band, wouldn't be Paddy's Day without them.

Banjaxed..............

My right arm has fallen off!! Or to be more precise, my computer has decided to give up on life, forever....Luckily I have everything of importance backed up on external hard drives so things could be so, so, so, so, so much worst. Just the inconvenience of it is all.....
The kind people in the shop have given me a loan of another while my new one is on order so I'm not completely lost. However, I'm gonna wait until I get my new one to load up all my image editing software, cos there's a lot of it and it's a pain the ass to do it only to have to remove it in a few days.
Still, I'll not be idle. It's St. Patrick's Day and tis not raining, so I'll pack up the old Nikons and head for the town and the parade. Should be good!! Enjoy yerselves.

Banksy V Robbo

Big whoo-haa in the graff world in London. War after breaking out between Banksy and old school graff artist King Robbo after Banksy painted over one of Robbos works which has been there since 1985. Robbo emerges from retirement to "mutilate" the other new works by Banksy along Regent's Canal. See all about it here : http://www.sprayblog.net/2010/02/banksy-vs-robbo/

I captured a couple of them while walking along the canal a few weeks back.

Original piece by Banksy in red said " I don't believe in global warming"

Banksy La Rat.......

Kilmalkedar.....

Spring has arrived!!! The weather is still on the chilly side, but that doesn't matter when the days are dry, and with clear skys and good light thrown in the mix Kerry is the place to be. Another jaunt to West Kerry with camera in hand where I called into Kilmalkedar Monastery. This monastery, founded in the seventh century is home to the ruins of a church, graveyard and some pre-Christian artifacts.

The twelfth century church was built in Irish Romanesque style, typical of the architecture of monastic settlements of the time. Note the tree bowing to the westerly winds from The Atlantic.

The settlement photographed from the west.

Pre-Christian Ogham stone on the grounds of the church.

Pre-Christian sun-dial . About 4.30pm.......
